2949 Walnut Blvd in Walnut Heights offers peace & quiet while still in close proximity to downtown WC. The old neighborhood exudes an ecclectic timelessness with no sidewalks, mature Oaks studded throughout, 1940's ranch style homes with their leaning white picket fences & modern constrasting newer homes. With 2949 Walnut Blvd the 1940's ranch style main home was accompanied by at 70's garage & ADU above & the question became what style do we go with? Because the neighborhood embrases a variety of contrasting styles, we decided to embrase the modern 70's vibe & created a clean modern aesthetic with (of course) elements of rustic. The home was run down & dated & it seems no owner ever truly gave her the care she deserved. The main house received a total remodel & a completely updated layout. She also received a new sewel line, updated pool, new landscaping & the exterior of the garage/ADU updated. Her exterior new siding was painted a dark grey almost black with white contrasting stucco & wood accents. The inside offered more modern lines with dark accent walls, beams & a stone backsplash in the kitchen to warm up the space. It was a challenging project & we were happy when she was finally was done. A lovely family from the South Bay purchased her off market & we know they were meant to make her home.
When we first purschased 2949 Walnut Blvd we had not anticipated being involved in the remodel ourselves. However sometimes plans change & so we leaned in & tried to create a special space. The home was hodge podge & very dated. We liked the area & knew we had to do what we could to make her future family happy & proud. It was not an easy project however we believe she turned out really nice & it was a great opportunity to play with a modern rustic style!
